Founded in 2014 by Chris Emile, Sabrina Johnson, Nia-Amina Minor, and Jeffrey Ware, No)one. Art House creates stimulating and approachable movement-based artistic experiences in locations throughout Los Angeles. We are dedicated to creating opportunities for artistic collaboration, building audiences for the arts, and providing learning opportunities for young dancers.
Chris Emile
Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Chris Emile is an active curator, dancer, choreographer, and educator. Emile received his formal dance education from Lula Washington, Debbie Allen, the Alvin Ailey School, and holds a BFA in Dance from the Alonzo King LINES Ballet/Dominican University BFA program as a member of the inaugural class. Professionally, Emile has performed with Alonzo King LINES Ballet, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Morphoses, Luna Negra Dance Theater, and BODYTRAFFIC performing the works of master choreographers such as Nacho Duato, Idan Sharabi, Stijn Celis, Barak Marshall, and Gustavo Ramirez Sansano.
After an extensive performance career, Emile relocated back to Los Angeles to co-found the movement collective No)one. Art House. Emile curates and manages all programming for NOAH which include performances, collaborations with noted artists in the field (SAINT HERON, PHLEMUNS, the Music Center) education opportunities, and other interactive events such as improv jams, film screenings, and discussions. Emile’s choreographic efforts oscillate between the concert and commercial dance worlds. Working with artists such as Solange Knowles, Kelela, Anderson Paak, Mayer Hawthorne, Tuxedo, Empress Of, and The Assembly Dance.
Additionally, Emile is an active repetiteur for the work of Spanish choreographer Gustavo Ramirez Sansano. He has assisted/staged Gustavo’s work on Opera Omaha, the California Institute for the Arts, the Windward School, and Chicago Opera Theater. Chris also frequently teaches at universities such as CalArts, Loyola Marymount University, Pomona College, and UC Irvine.
Nia-Amina Minor
Nia-Amina Minor is a performer, choreographer, teaching artist, and screen dance filmmaker. She received her BA in Communication with a minor in Film and Media Studies from Stanford University in 2012 and her MFA in Dance at the University of California, Irvine in 2014. Nia-Amina is an artist with many disciplinary points of inspiration, including but not limited to dance and technology and screen dance choreography. Her research focuses on practices of engagement within the performing arts. She is trained in many styles of dance and specializes in Modern, Contemporary, and Hip Hop. Nia-Amina has performed at Redcat, Jacob’s Pillow, Electric Lodge, Cal Arts, and on many stages throughout Los Angeles. She is a co-founder, curator, and performer with Los Angeles based collective No) one. Art House.
Sabrina Johnson
Raised in Los Angeles, California, she graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School Academy of Music and went on to study at University of California, Santa Barbara. Her sophomore year at UCSB she became a Teachers Assistant for Dance History Professor, Dr. Carol Press where she often proctored exams and held lectures. In 2010, she joined the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Training Program and performed works by Sidra Bell, Christian Burns, Gregory Dawson, and Nathan Trice. Sabrina assisted Maurya Kerr in LINES Ballet repertoire class during their summer intensive and later continued her freelance career in San Francisco joining project based companies tinypistol and burns:work. She returned to Los Angeles and became an apprentice with Ate9 Dance Company in January 2014. Most recently Sabrina has worked as a Stage Manager and Rehearsal Assistant for Danielle Agami of Ate9 Dance Company. She is a co-founder, curator, and performer with No)one. Art House.
Jeffrey Ware
Jeffrey Ware trained at Debbie Allen’s Dance Academy received scholarships to attend LINES Ballet and American Ballet Theatre and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Purchase College’s Conservatory of Dance. He has worked with choreographers Debbie Allen, Desmond Richardson, Kazuko Hirabayashi, and with Robert Moses Kin, and ODC/ San Francisco. He performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC for the opening of their children’s theater and with the Burgos International Dance company in Spain. In 2010 Jeffrey joined Company C Contemporary Ballet in the San Francisco Bay Area where he performed for two years. In 2014 Jeffrey Co-Founded and worked as a Curator at No)one. Art House
